Cheap Cruise Tips: Moving Cruises

One of the best ways to enjoy a cheap cruise is on a repositioning route. A repositioning cruise will take place either spring or fall when the cruise ships need to move some of their ships from their winter routes in areas like the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Europe for their summer routes, including in Alaska.

Instead, the cruise ships sailing empty between destinations, the big cruise ships passengers on these repositioning voyages of what often represents a huge savings over the regular season in cruise prices.

But although prices are much lower, ship facilities and activities usually works full functionality. You have plenty to see and do on a repositioning cruise from live shows and other entertainment to sports, arts, crafts, and tons of others activities, and you can do it all at a really great price.

Another advantage of repositioning cruises is that you can travel to places not often visited on in-season cruise routes, especially the Panama Canal. Other ships sail Trans-Atlantic and Trans-Pacific routes between ports in Europe and the Caribbean and between ports in Australia and New Zealand to Hawaii and Alaska.

Repositioning cruises can be both long and short, ranging from three and four Cay cruises between Vancouver and California for several weeks Transatlantic and Trans Pacific cruises.

On longer cruises, which include sea crossings, there are few port stops, so passengers have plenty of time to take full advantage of the many activities, shows and other forms of entertainment on board cruise ships.

Of course, it is easy to spend a lot of money in the ship's bars and casino during a long cruise, so you might want to keep track of your tab under way to avoid unpleasant surprises when you get your final bill.

Another factor to consider when considering a repositioning cruise is the cost of airfare. Since repositioning cruises by definition begins and ends in the various ports, you will probably have to buy a split ticket, which can often add a bit to the total cost of the holiday.

But if the ticket reasonably priced, a repositioning cruise may be a good way to cruise to new locations, while having the time to thoroughly enjoy the facilities and a modern cruise ship – all for a great bargain. It is hard to beat an agreement as is.
